Meet The Team
A Dedicated Feline Only Vet in Townsville
Dr. Melissa graduated from the University of QLD in 2002 and has spent time working at various clinics in Townsville and overseas in the UK. She has been feline focused her whole career and joined Tropical QLD Cat Clinic in 2016, taking over ownership in 2022.
Since then, she has attained her Memberships in Feline Medicine with the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists and has also completed the ISFM Advanced Certificate in Feline Behaviour. Dr Melissa is also Fear Free Accredited.
Dr. Melissa is a slave to 9 cats ranging in age from 1 - 16years: Alice, Minx, Supercat, Tipsy, Seven, Priscilla, Cheezel and Lance. She also shares her home with her dog, Polar Bear!
Dr Andrea joined the cat clinic in 2023 after graduating from JCU in 2018. She has since spent her time working in various small animal clinics between Cairns and Townsville.
Currently Dr Andrea splits her time between our clinic and JCU Vet where she gets to indulge in her love for cats, while also maintaining her interest in teaching vet students.
A fun fact about Andrea is she speaks fluent French and Italian, and limited Swedish, so feel free to come in and say Bonjour, Buongiorno or Hej when you see her in the clinic!
She shares her home with her partner and their two domestic torties Pringle and Paprika (who both sadly only speak English - for now!)
Cat has had a passion for the feline species since she was a young girl, so it made sense to start her vet nursing training in 2021. Quickly realising that her love for cats coupled with her experience in management, stepping into the Practice Manager role just made sense - a role she is very passionate about.
With a passion for kitten rescue and fostering you can often find her out and about helping others rescue kittens as well as caring for litters in her own home. She now is an executive partner running the Townsville kitten organisation, The Kitten Cove.
Being cat crazy (with the exception of her Border Collie Benji) her feline family includes her five cats Eli, Milah, Denzel, Meika and Odin.

Liz is originally from England and moved to Townsville in 2020 and with her love for animals she wasted no time studying to be a vet nurse the moment she arrived in Australia. Liz is a fully qualified vet nurse having completed both her cert III and cert IV in Vet Nursing. Liz has a strong passion for nursing that saw her recently complete her registration with the Vet Nurses Council of Australia. Liz is now continuing further qualifications by studying her Diploma in Feline
Medicine through the International Society of Feline Medicine.
Liz’s fur family consists of 5 cats – Whiskey, Archie, Oscar, Ricket and Soda and a cattle dog named Daisy!
Nia is originally from Wales in the UK and has lived in Townsville for the last 20 years. She has been with the team for the last eleven years and is a cert IV qualified Vet Nurse.
Nia has a strong love for felines and says her favourite part of the job is nursing patients back to health and being able to send them home after illness or injury.
Her fur family includes 3 cats Huey, Sage and Apollo and her 2 dogs – Oscar and Gretchen.
Jess joined our team in 2025 all the way from Tassie, and we are so lucky to have her! Hailing from NSW originally, Jess has been amongst the animal industry since 2012 in various forms.
Jess has previously volunteered with the RSPCA and was previously employee by VetPrac. One of Jess’s biggest achievements is being part of the “Just Cats” Tasmania team and being instrumental in setting up the state run cat management program, focusing on subsidised desexing for cats and controlling colony cat programs. Jess also has a degree in Environmental Science and is currently in her first year studying veterinary science at JCU.
Jess is a proud fur mum of her two Devon Rex’s Mabel and Agnes.
Starting her veterinary career in early 2025, Louise has already completed her Certificate II in Animal Care and is almost ready to begin her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.
As one of our newest nurses, Louise has been enthusiastically learning all aspects of veterinary nursing, including patient care, anaesthetic monitoring, surgical preparation, recovery, and much more. She has a genuine passion for feline medicine and is excited to continue expanding her knowledge and skills as part of our team.
Outside of the clinic, Louise loves spending time with her much-loved cat, Ziggy. When she's not cuddling Ziggy, you'll likely find her playing video games or perfecting the art of low-and-slow American-style barbecue cooking.
